A woman who foresaw herself dying during pregnancy was saved by a doctor that took her premonitions seriously.

When Stephanie Arnold was 20 weeks pregnant with her second baby, she started having very vivid premonitions about her death. She saw herself hemorrhaging and needing a hysterectomy.

“I’d see that the baby would be fine, but ultimately I saw that I would die,” she said.

Her husband didn't believe her, but one doctor flagged her file and prepped her in case. He brought extra blood into the delivery room.

Arnold suffered an amniotic fluid embolism, flat-lining for 37 seconds. Doctors saved her life by reviving her with the extra blood.

She wakes up in the mornings for big hair, good eyelash days, baby animals, sparkles and her dog Bella. When she isn’t writing for Womanista, Emmy can be found making art and doing real and imaginary workouts.
