Could we be anymore excited? There's an unauthorized musical parody called Friends: The One Where They Sing happening at Chicago's MCL Chicago from June 10 through July 29!
Writer and director Eli Golden explained to BuzzFeed, "Friends is that show I watch every night before I go to bed, so naturally, it means a lot to me. I am a huge lover of musicals and really wanted to tell a great story while staying true to the source material. This is a musical for fans by the fans, both of Friends and musicals in general."
Golden apparently started writing the project about three years ago. A version of the musical debuted earlier this year at the Chicago Sketch Comedy Festival and due to it's overwhelming response, Golden finally put the finishing touches on his original script. "Between the cast, the band, and production team, we have stacked this show with funny and talented people, and that atmosphere is infectious," he added.
The 90-minute show will include fan-favorites, such as "Smelly Cat" and even Marcel (the monkey)! The theater is also BYOB, so adult guests are welcome to join in on a Friends-themed drinking game.
