First of all, you may be wondering, "What the heck is a flatform?" And let me tell you, you are not alone. Recently, I put up a Facebook post asking for favorite ‘flatform’ recommendations and two people thought I had an issue with spell check. Even Google gets mad at me.

A flatform (not to be confused with platform) is basically a new breed of shoe that combines a flat with a platform. It’s a platform with little to no angle.

Now that we have a better understanding of what it is, let’s talk about the cool factor. These shoes, once thought to be a fleeting foot fad, are showing no signs of slowing. In fact, if anything they are gaining in popularity. Stella McCartney, Chanel, Prada, among others, have all come out with their own flatforms.

I love them because they add height while remaining comfortable. I can chase after my kids and look taller -- a winning combination for this mommy / wardrobe stylist.

Kensie “Boston” Sandal
I’ve been wearing these around the house like slippers they are SO comfortable. The neutral color tones really blend in well with my skin and create a longer line. The spongy white sole adds support and cushion, as I really prefer the softer sole versions. Plus, you can easily dress these up or down, depending on the occasion.

Splendid “Edna” Espadrille
If you have had any experience with the brand, Splendid, you know they value comfort. The tees are so comfy you often want to sleep in them. The same goes for their shoes. These espadrilles will not only go with everything in your closet, the lace-up detailing adds a modernity and freshness that make these standout. The flatform is only around one inch, a great place to start if you want to try the trend.

No Name “Plato” Canvas Sneakers
White sneakers are also a rather trendy, of the moment shoe. Add an extra couple of inches, and you have this wonderful, flatform-sneaker combo! I wear these at least once a week with everything from white jeans and a top to dresses. I feel sneaky wearing these (no pun intended), like I’m adding inches no one knows about.

See by Chloe, “Liana” Sandals
Heather Anderson is wearing these See by Chloe “Liana” sandals which have a very slight incline. These super chic, lace-up sandals have an edgy, metallic sole. Heather says these are her favorite summer sandals because they are insanely comfortable.

Stella McCartney “Raffia” Sandals
If I could put one pair down on my wish list, it would be this pair by Stella McCartney. I love the luggage brown coloring mixed with the sporty stripe detail at the bottom of the sole. The ankle strap gives you added security and the soft sole will no doubt make them easy to walk in.
