Your Thanksgiving feast is long gone, and you’ve spent the last few weeks actively trying to forget about the obscene amounts of creamy pie, sodium-filled dressing and bloat-inducing cocktails you ingested over the holiday. While it tasted glorious at the time, all of the sugar, dairy, carbs and alcohol can wreak havoc on your appearance by leaving you with the dreaded puffy, bloated face.

Before yet another delicious holiday meal creeps up around Christmas time, make sure you take the necessary skin-soothing steps to de-puff your face and refresh your total appearance.

What You’ll Need
Cold water
Witch hazel
Cucumber (cold, preferably)
Green tea bags
Ice cub tray

Now What?
1. Start by filling up your bathroom sink with cold water; add in a cup of ice cubes.
2. Pour 1/3 cup of witch hazel into the water, then dunk your whole face in the solution up to ten times; gently pat your face dry.
3. Remove the cucumber from the refrigerator and cut it into thin slices; lay them directly on your closed eyelids for three minutes, then replace with fresh ones and leave on for another three to five minutes.
4. Lastly, if you’re still feeling bloated after that, brew some fresh, strong green tea; let cool, then pour the green tea into an ice cube tray and freeze overnight.
5. Simply take out an ice cube in the morning and run it all over your puffy face, concentrating on the puffiest parts.

Why it works
1. The cold water helps to shrink your capillaries and stimulate drainage, and the witch hazel has natural anti-inflammatory effects.
2. The cucumbers help to force the puffiness away while simultaneously soothing the skin.
3. The green tea not only helps reduce the swollen look, but it’s also very high in antioxidants, which is exceptionally good for your skin.
