According to CBS, Nunes got in a couple good punches (27 in total) when Rousey showed weak defense.
“Forget about Ronda Rousey!” Nunes shouted after the match. “She’s going to go do movies. Forget about her. She has a lot of money already.”
While speculation is now up in the air that Rousey is considering retirement after leaving the sport without a word to anyone. After the incident, Rousey left the cage in her mom’s embrace.
“I’m the real striker here,” Nunes said of the victory.
Rousey became a legend in the UFC world and made $3 million after her comeback opposed to Nunes’ $200,000 paycheck.
“I knew I was going to beat (Rousey),” Nunes said. “I’m the best on the planet.”
She hadn’t fought since November of 2014 against Holly Holm got in a head kick. This was upsetting as Rousey had never lost a match in her life. Back in July Nunes got the belt at UFC 200 after losing three fights that Rousey on beaten.
Cruz Garbrandt also hadn’t lost a match since March 2007 making the 25-year-old Ohio native a UFC household name. “We’re all competitors here, and it’s a game of inches. He beat me by a couple of inches tonight, and that’s OK. ... There wasn’t one second of this fight I wasn’t trying to win. I chased him around the cage the whole night,” he said to CBS. His first title defense could potentially be T.J. Dillashaw who recently had a victory at UFC 207.
Nunes didn't stop at the ring, either. She took to Twitter after the fight to slam Rousey one more time with a photoshopped image.
