Typically in tacos the meat is on the inside and the shell or tortilla is on the outside, but not at Taco Bell.
The fast food chain has created a "shell" made entirely of fried chicken. Similar to KFC's Double Down, which featured two pieces of fried chicken in place of sandwich buns, the Naked Chicken Chalupa uses a piece of fried chicken shaped as a taco shell.
The moulded chicken patty is then fried and filled with taco fixings like lettuce, diced tomatoes, cheddar cheese and creamy avocado ranch.
It is equally the stuff of nightmares and the stuff of dreams.
“Something this delicious yet different is bound to ruffle some feathers; some might even cluck their tongues at it,” Marisa Thalberg, chief marketing officer at Taco Bell Corp said in a press release, according to Mashable. “However, we feel confident that once our fans get a taste of the Naked Chicken Chalupa they are going to understand exactly why this is our next big, fun and craveable innovation, following in the footsteps of the Doritos Locos Tacos five years ago and the Quesalupa just last year.”
Those who are excited to try the new menu item will be able to get their hands on one Jan. 26 for $2.99.
