Hale shared a photo from a recent photo shoot on social media and wrote, “The time my baby hairs came to good use at a shoot.”
The issue many people had was her use of the word “baby hairs.” In the photo her hair is parted down the middle with her bangs, not baby hair, slicked back on the sides of her face.
Baby hairs are thin hairs that rest right on the hairline and are used when creating hairstyles in the African-American and Latina communities.
Lucy’s six million followers were quick to call her out and correcting her use of term. According to Bustle, the actress deleted her photo an hour after posting it.
She also apologized in a tweet writing, “Sorry guys—I would never mean to offend anyone. Honestly, my bad. I wasn’t thinking.”
