During President Trump's first Address to Congress, he spoke about the importance of buying American products, Cosmopolitan reports.
Sharing the same sentiment as his speech, President Trump tweeted, “The time has come for a new program of national rebuilding that will be guided by two core principles: Buy American, Hire American!”
In the audience at the address stood Trump’s daughter, Ivanka, wearing an orchid pink dress created by French designer Roland Mouret.
The fact that Ivanka wore a dress made abroad frustrated many viewers on social media, who believed it was a tad hypocritical. One viewer wrote, “Trump says “buy American, hire American,” you first Donald & Ivanka.”
Others questioned if her cocktail dress was inappropriate for the Congressional hearing. One twitter user wrote, “Show respect for the institutions of our democracy. Your dress is fine for cocktails but not for a joint session of Congress.”
Another commenter pointed out that Ivanka’s dress was produced in the UK and retails for $2,995.
