Contestant Casi Joy turned all four judges' chairs with her stunning cover of LeAnn Rimes' "Blue," but the 26-year-old's country song choice left Levine down in the dumps.
"I would do cartwheels to have you on my team," Levine told Joy after her performance. "But I have been beaten down so many times by hearing a voice like yours, which clearly is rooted in that traditional country thing, so I'm not going to get my hopes up, because I am too exhausted."
The Maroon 5 front man then stood up, waved to the audience and proceeded to leave his chair and sit down on the other side of the stage. After returning to his chair, Levine made one last-ditch pitch to Joy.
"I'd like to retract some of my previous statements," he said. "They were the rantings of a mad man. I've changed, Casi. I'm a new man! What if you chose me? That's crazy! That's the worst decision ever! Or, is it the best decision ever? You decide."
Despite noting that she did sing other genres besides country, Joy ultimately ended up choosing Blake Shelton as her coach.
