Shoes that order pizza. Seriously. pic.twitter.com/X1Q1VSG0in— Pizza Hut (@pizzahut) March 6, 2017
Forget ordering pizza over the phone — Pizza Hut had made it possible to get your fix with just the touch of a button.
To celebrate NCAA March Madness, the chain has created a set of limited-edition high tops that allow the wearer to order pizza simply by touching a button on the shoe's tongue.
Dubbed "Pie Tops," the kicks were created by the Shoe Surgeon, a Los Angeles-based custom footwear designer, and feature bluetooth location technology that allows your order to travel to the nearest Pizza Hut location with the touch of a button. Before your shoes can order pizza, though, you need to choose your pizza in the Pizza Hut app.
Unfortunately (or not, you decide), there were only 64 pairs of the sneakers made to celebrate the 64 teams that play in the March Madness tournament. The shoes aren't available to the public and will be given to "influencers" and Pizza Hut superfans, according to AdWeek.
The sneakers will also be used to promote a specific Pizza Hut promotion for March and April—$7.99 for a large two-topping, available for carryout or delivery — so even though you can't grab a pair of pizza-ordering shoes, you can still enjoy some cheesy goodness for a great price.
