One amazing thing has definitely come out of these crazy political times, and that's a serious upsurge in interest to get involved with politics at a local level.
Suddenly being an informed and involved citizen is extremely important to a massive number of people who may not have been that politically active before. Facebook, ever the connector, has found a way to help those new to the political arena get their feet wet without getting overwhelmed.
According to HelloGiggles, the new "Town Hall" feature shows you how to contact your local representatives and make sure your voice is heard with more ease than ever before.
In a statement about the feature, Facebook creator Mark Zuckerberg said, "In times like these, the most important thing we at Facebook can do is develop the social infrastructure to give people the power to build a global community that works for all of us."
"Today, most of us do not even know who our local representatives are, but many policies impacting our lives are local, and this is where our participation has the greatest influence," he added.
If you're looking for the fastest way to contact your reps, using the mobile app on your phone is probably your best bet. Click on the menu icon in the lower right hand corner, then under "explore" scroll down to "see more." One tap on that and another little scroll later, you'll see "Town Hall." They will ask you for an address, which the prompt says won't be saved, then just like that you have all your representative's information close at hand!
Boom, civic engagement just got so much easier.
