A California server reportedly refused to serve Latina patrons at a Huntington Beach restaurant before obtaining "proof of residency," KABC reports.

Patron Diana Carrillo said she was stunned when she and some friends visited Saint Marc pub-café last Saturday and a waiter asked the group for their proof of residency.

"I was shocked," she recalled. "I didn't know what to say."

"I looked at my friend and sister and I said 'Did he really just ask us this?' They said yeah, he asked us the same thing," she continued.

"My friend said he repeated his question and he said I need to make sure you're from here before I serve you."

The group told the manager about the incident and were reportedly told they could sit in another section of the restaurant, but decided to leave instead.

Carillo later shared the story to Facebook, writing that she thought the waiter was joking at first.

"I hope this employee is reprimanded for his actions," she wrote. "No establishment should tolerate discriminatory actions from their employees."

The server has reportedly since been fired.

"In no way are the actions of this former employee representative of the Saint Marc brand nor are they reflective of the opinions of anyone else on our team, including executive management," the restaurant said.
