Miranda Lambert has always been a strong advocate for women, especially in country music.
Lambert made history for being the first artist to win eight straight Female Vocalist of the Year awards at the 2017 ACMs. She is now tied with Reba McEntire for the most wins, Taste of Country reports.
After her big wins, she spoke about being a female leader in the music industry.
“I’m really so thrilled that I can help lead the charge for women in this business at any level,” she says. “I’m so thrilled that I can keep pushing forward and making way for other women to do the same thing…I’m just really humbled by it.”
Lambert also spoke about her emotional experience writing the songs on her new album, The Weight of These Wings. ”It was a really hard day for me,” she admitted when talking about writing her first single “Vice” with Shane MacAnally and Josh Osborne.
“To me, country music is about truth,” Lambert said, “it’s about what’s really going on, whether it’s happy or sad or somewhere in the middle.” Even though the past few years may have been "sad" for her, she is now moving “in a different direction.”
“But I’m really glad that people can relate to an emotion like that,” she adds.
