Waxing is definitely not a pleasant process, and one vlogger recently took things to a new and uncomfortable level when she filmed herself getting her nose hairs waxed and shared it on Instagram.
Sepi Balini posted the clip on April 1, and it has since been viewed over seven million times. In the video, an aesthetician places a wooden stick dipped in wax into each of her nostrils before yanking them out.
"I ONLY WAX THE VERY FRONT, I KNOW THE IMPORTANCE OF NOSE HAIR," Balini wrote in the video's caption. "You gotta do what you gotta do....NOSE HAIR BE GONE!"
Many people worried that Balini's removal of her nose hair wasn't safe, and Redbook shares that they might be right.
Dr. Ted Lain, a dermatologist based in Austin, Texas, shared that nose hairs help keep particles like dust and allergens out of your nose, helping to keep your body healthy. Waxing can also irritate the sensitive tissue inside your nose and can lead to burns.
Dr. Heidi Waldorf, the Director of Laser and Cosmetic Dermatology at the Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City, also noted that waxing the inside of the nose can also cause a painful pimple from inflammation.
Trimming is a much more recommended procedure to get rid of unwanted nose hairs, and waxing them is one procedure you don't want to try at home.
