In what is warming the hearts of internet users across the U.S., a member of the Ohio National Guard gave his long-time girlfriend the best gift upon his return from deployment — he popped the question!

CBS News affiliate, WSBT says it was a family mission that helped National Guard, Sean White successfully pull off a surprise proposal to his long-time girlfriend.

White, a member of the Ohio National Guard, got down on one knee and popped the question to long-time girlfriend, Erika Turner at John Glenn International Airport in Columbus, Ohio and thankfully, she said yes.

“He got me,” said a surprised Turner.

White tells WSBT it was a plan in the works for about six months from the day he left as part of the 121st Refueling Wing on his way to the Middle East.

White’s father, a serviceman, got the call during his deployment overseas from his son and collaborated with his wife, an Air Force veteran to plan the proposal.
