April the Giraffe has had quite the momentous week. After what seemed like forever, she finally gave birth to a healthy, 129-pound baby boy before the new little one got to meet his dad, Oliver.
Then, April got another fun guest — "Giraffe Mom" Erin Dietrich, who went viral in March for uploading a video that parodied April's long stretch to motherhood.
Dietrich gave birth on March 8 to a healthy baby boy named Porter Lane. She received a call from Inside Edition, offering to fly her out from her home in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, to the adventure park in Harpursville, New York, where April was.
Naturally, she jumped at the chance.
The following day, Dietrich and Porter had an epic meeting with the giraffe mom and her new calf.
We will say that April seemed a little taken aback when Erin took off her giraffe mask but we totally get it, April. We'd be caught off guard, too.
However, the giraffe seemed to really love baby Porter and Dietrich said the their time together was incredible.
"The experience was awesome and surreal," Dietrich told Country Living. "We are so thankful we got to go up there and meet them!"
April's son doesn't have a name yet, as the park is holding a contest for people to submit names for the calf for a buck per vote. There is a petition, however, to name her son Porter, after Erin's child. The petition has 359 votes.
What would you name the calf?
