Saturday Night Live comedy queen Aidy Bryant has been keeping a pretty big secret for six whole months — she's engaged!
Though Bryant and boyfriend Conner O'Malley got engaged back in October, the actress just opened up about it Thursday night on Late Night With Seth Myers.
After fans noticed some extra bling on her hand thanks to an Instagram post in January, Bryant finally told the story - and it's a good one.
"We've been together a long time; we've been together almost nine years. So, a lot of the shimmer and shine has faded and we're just living every damn day as best we can," she joked. "We've seen each other through a lot. Like, he used to work as a full-blown garbage man — not a joke, just a garbage man. I used to sweep up hair in a
Proving the commitment is more than real, she continued, saying, "So, one night I came home from 'pitch' at SNL. You ever heard of it?" she teased the former head writer. "So, I pitched to Lin-Manuel Miranda and then when I got home I had my purse and our mail and all these boxes, and I walked to our door and our dog had a bowtie on. I was like, 'My dog doesn't wear a bowtie! Where is he going tonight?' Basically, the second I shut the door, a man — who I discovered was Conner — frantically came around the corner and was just like, 'Willyoumarryme?!' No box. No 'I love you.' No
The story itself is hilarious enough on its own, but the reasoning O'Malley gave for his sudden post-work proposal is possibly the best part of the whole thing.
Thank you to my friends at @glamourmag for pairing me with the brilliant @tanyataylor for this special dress I wore on @latenightseth ! Gonna link on twitter and my bio so you can read the interview about being a plus size person in this industry, Tanya's thoughts on how it can change & I say the word "horny" within the first sentence. 📷: @lesliekirch thank you to the BEAUTIFUL GENIUS @lcchan
When she asked him why he was proposing like this, O'Malley, who was a former writer on Late Night With Seth Myers, had the perfect response.
"He was like, 'Well, you always said that you wanted it to happen in our house if it ever happened.' I was like, 'That's true; I wanted it to be private,'" the bride-to-be said. "He was like, 'But I also knew you probably wanted to be wearing a bra and have makeup on, so I knew I had to do it after you just got home from work — otherwise it would never be another moment.'"
We can say we absolutely feel Bryant on the no-bra window, and props to her man for knowing her so well and planning the perfect-for-them proposal. Congrats to the happy couple! Bryant was, however, tight-lipped on any wedding details, but we're sure it will be picture perfect and full of personality.
