According to deputies, a mother has been charged in the death of her daughter after leaving her unattended in the bathtub for several minutes.

Police in the Dallas-Fort Worth area say Cheyenne Summer Stuckey, 21, has been arrested in the drowning of her 6-month-old child, after she said she was distracted by Facebook and left her alone.

In a news release, investigators said Stuckey told authorities she left her alone "for only a couple minutes" inside her Texas home, NBC News reports.

She later returned to the bathroom to find her daughter, Zayla, unresponsive and floating face-down. The mother told police she wasn't sure if she put a bathtub stopper in the drain.

Investigators later discovered Stuckey had been on Facebook messenger for at least 18 minutes while the child was in the tub. In her interview with police, the 21-year-old implicated herself in her negligence by revealing that she left her infant unsupervised and became "distracted" by another child, Facebook and a loud television.

Deputies claim the mother tried to save her daughter, but "did not know how."

Stuckey was charged with injury to a child and other children in the house were put into foster care.
