How to Become Your Own Personal Trainer

| Fitness

Let us first state that there is no replacement for a certified personal trainer. They are able to tailor a workout for you, your specific body type, and fitness goals, all with the latest trends in fitness science, and through tracking results tweak your fitness routine as necessary. That being said, many of us don't have the $50 or more a session to spend on a personal trainer. Luckily, by following a few of these tips, learning to tailor your workout to your needs isn't as difficult as you might have thought. Here's how to get started:

Set your goal: Are you looking to lose weight, get more toned, or increase strength? Be honest with yourself and set a clear goal of pounds or inches lost, or a strength level to be achieved. A tracked number will keep you on task and help you get to where you want to be!

Do your research: Once you've set your goal, follow through. Your plan is only going to work if you make it work. That means, put excuses aside and stay focused.

Workout your willpower: Being your own personal trainer means you have to provide yourself with motivation to keep up your fitness routine. Include rewards as part of your goal setting, and make sure to tell others what you are working on so they  can hold you accountable as well.

Make dieting delicious: Just because you're trying to eat healthy doesn't mean your taste buds have to be cast away to land of plain, grilled chicken and broccoli. Eating healthy can still be appetizing, you just have to know what to cook! Click here to check out our amazing recipe index, and find out how good eating healthy can taste!

Celebrate Your Wins: One of the best ways to keep yourself motivated and the momentum going is to celebrate your victories each and every week. Whether it's a pound lost or passing over the dessert tray at your work function, celebrate these wins by rewarding yourself with something like a new pair of shoes, a massage or even taking the time for a nice, long bath.

Not being able to afford a personal trainer is not an excuse for staying out of shape! Here at Skinnymom, we have a huge index of workouts, specific to certain goals and even body parts.
