Going to the gym every day can be a little unrealistic for a busy mom, but don't let that be an excuse to not work out! You can use items you have laying around the house to get in a workout at any time of the day or night. Check out our list of items you didn't know could be used as workout equipment.
Gallon jugs of water: No dumbbells? No problem! A gallon of water weighs about eight pounds, but if you're looking for something heavier, fill them with sand for a 13-pound dumbbell replacement. You can also use water bottles if you prefer that grip.
Couch: It's pretty tempting to lay down and take a nap on that couch, but next time you're watching your favorite TV show, stretch on it instead. There are multiple stretches you can do while sitting, or you could even tuck your feet under the couch during commercial breaks and do sit ups or crunches!
Dining room table: If you've got a sturdy table at home, don't be afraid to do some standing push ups on it! Keep those abs tight and you'll feel it in your core and in your pectoral muscles.
Steps: There are plenty of exercises you could do with the steps in your house, but our favorites are step ups and crossover push ups on the steps. If you don't have stairs in your house, use a stool or bench!
Shampoo or conditioner bottles: Although these aren't very heavy, you will still feel the burn when you do triceps presses with shampoo and conditioner bottles in the shower!
Laundry basket: Use your laundry basket full of freshly laundered clothes to do deadlifts when you don't have time to go to the gym. For even more of a challenge, try doing wall sits while you fold the laundry!
