We all know how hard it is to meet your goals. It takes ambition, determination and sweat—sometimes even tears. Take a moment to reward yourself for every success, even the small ones. To help you jumpstart your self-pampering, we thought up 17 little extras you can use to mark your achievements.

Perfect Paint Jobs. Leaning over your toes at home with a half-empty bottle of polish can’t hold a candle to a luxurious day at the nail salon. Throw in a manicure. You deserve it.

Buy something sparkly. Whether that means a new sparkly dress, a fancy new bracelet or a stunning set of earrings, treat yourself. Not only will it be an awesome reward for yourself, but it will also serve as a bright, shiny reminder of how far you’ve come.

Splurge on a spa weekend. Did you reach a big milestone? Congratulations. It’s time to celebrate in a big way. A spa getaway may be the perfect way to mark the occasion. Attack the mall. For some of us (you know who you are!), few things can beat a day of uninhibited shopping. That designer bag that you’ve been eyeing? Maybe now is the time to take it to the checkout counter. Every time you step out of the house, you’ll be proud all over again of the hard work you put in to earn it.

Get lost in a great book. Remember books? In today’s smartphone and tablet-crazed world, the greatest luxury of all may be a few hours of unconnected reading time—no devices, no demands, just you and a book. A used bookstore will be chockablock with page-turners, gruesome mysteries, or steamy bodice rippers. Grab your favorite genre and curl up under your favorite blanket with a cup of tea or hot chocolate.

Get rubbed the right way. Massages are a great way to relax and recharge, and you can even justify it with these health benefits. Since they can be pricy, you may want to save this treat for when you check a major goal off your list.

Rock a new look. Reaching your goals means reaching a new part of yourself. Reinforce your transformation with a new look. Getting a new hairstyle or color can make you feel like a whole different person and keep you on track.

Smell like success. A new scent can give you a confidence boost and make you feel like a new person. Check out the perfume counters in the mall and bring home the one that smells like victory.

Go out for a date night. Make plans with your significant other for a date night. We’re not talking about rushed takeout, either. Go on a real date with dinner, a movie and maybe a little bit of dancing or, ahem, other physical activity. Line it up right now. It will give you something to work toward and look forward to.

Have a movie marathon. When was the last time you and the couch spent some quality time together? Now’s the time! Take a Sunday afternoon and bingewatch the TV you’ve missed or cross off a couple of movies on that list you stuck on the fridge last summer. You’ll be recharged in no time.

Buy some flowers. The little things matter, and sometimes all you need is a small recognition of how far you’ve come. Get some flowers on the way home and arrange them in a pretty vase. Your dining room table will look as great as you feel.

Roadtrip. Whether your favorite town is your college town, your hometown or a metropolitan city, take a day trip! Take your friends along with you for good company, make a custom playlist on your iPod, and hit the road. Set an itinerary or just wing it. Ignore the chain joints and spend your time in hole-in-the-wall shops, restaurants and bars or mind-expanding museums.

Get your groove thing on. Use concert tickets to reward yourself and keep you motivated toward your next goal. Since you already know and love the music, splurge on a pair of tickets to see your favorite band.

Go out for dinner and dancing with your friends. There are few things more fun than a night out with your friends. It may take a lot of planning to find a date that works for everyone, but if you have something to celebrate, it ought to be with the ones you have the most fun with, right?

Pick your own. The Fall is the perfect time to pick some apples or go to a pumpkin patch. The kids will love the hayride or corn maze, and you will enjoy a good cup of homemade apple cider.

Go to the zoo or museum. Maybe your family (or you!) would prefer a trip to the zoo or a museum. Your kids will love learning new things in a fun and exciting way, and you’ll love how much fun they’re having. If your family is working toward a goal together, a fun trip to the zoo could be the perfect motivator!
