I get asked a lot, “What’s it like to be married to a musician?” and “Is it really hard to have a husband who is gone all the time?” – From my experience, I think people are really fascinated to get an inside glance at what it’s like to live life in the Nashville music scene…which is why the premiere of TNT’s “Private Lives of Nashville Wives” is.going.to.be.awesome.
I’m also SUPER excited about this show because our good friends Dallas & Sarah Davidson are featured. Sarah is absolutely FABULOUS and talented & gorgeous to boot! Her story is a great representation of what it looks like to be married to someone who is super-successful in the music business (and ALL that comes with it). Without giving too much away, I know y’all will really love connecting with her and watching her story unfold – there is plenty of fun & fabulousness as well as some crushing heartbreak.
This Womanista caught up with the fab Ms. Sarah Davidson and got her to spill some of her best style & beauty secrets! Check out our chat below and make sure to tune into “Private Lives of Nashville Wives”, premiering Feb. 24th at 10/9c on TNT!
1. How has your style evolved since you first moved to Nashville?
When I first moved to Nashville I was in college at Belmont University and was in a preppy phase and not to mention I was completely broke so my style was a little cramped! Once I got my first deal in the music business I started to really open up my mind to new style possibilities and I began to experiment with my style and grew a love for taking fashion risks and standing out. My favorite daily look is Hudson waxed leggings, graphic T-shirt, Isabel Marant Leather Jacket, ASH studded boots, Rag & Bone fedora, and an oversized bag.
2. How does the city of Nashville & your music influence your look?
Nashville has influenced my style in such a huge way. I’ve always had the intent to dress fashionably and on trend but I don’t think I really found my sense of style until I moved to Nashville. I love the rooted, authentic parts of this city and I feel that is reflected in my everyday wear. I also love the country glam influence in my style that comes from the rhinestone legacy of fabulous country starlets like Dolly Parton, Tammy Wynette, and Faith Hill and the bright lights of lower Broadway. I believe that style is a journey and as my horizons continue to broaden musically, and as I experience new places and things, I hope my style continues to reflect that.
3. You are a seriously busy lady – you have an EP coming out on March 25th, you have a new TV show premiering, AND you are renovating a new home – what’s your beauty routine when you are on the go?
Sometimes when I get super busy or have a long night its all too easy to tell myself its no big deal to leave my makeup on overnight but I know this only leads to morning regret! I love Dr. Perricone’s face wash and OLE HENRIKSON Vitamin C wipes are really great to remove makeup on the go (and they smell so yummy). WHEN Essense masks are my go-to product to add hydration to my skin after a day of travel. For quick morning travel glam I apply BB cream, touchup my eyebrows, apply a touch of bronzer and blush, a swipe of mascara, and a swipe of my favorite pink lipstick (Tarte 12 hour Long-wear in Whimsy). Surprisingly I can accomplish all this in about 10 minutes!
4. Who are your style icons?
Carrie Bradshaw, if a fictional character counts for her spunk and ambition to take fashion risks, Yves Saint Laurent for being so influential in the evolution of the ready-to-wear fashions we wear today, Marilyn Monroe for always being classically sexy and knowing how to play up her best assets, and Coco Chanel for brilliantly transforming the way the modern woman dresses (corsets would really be a drag to sing in!).
5. What’s the “must-have” item in your makeup bag?
The product that is always in my bag is Makeup Forever transluscent HD powder. When I’m performing on stage under hot, bright lights it can sometimes lead to a sweaty make-up mess, but this powder is the perfect solution to keep me camera and show ready. I also religiously used this HD powder to ward off shine while filming “Private Lives of Nashville Wives”. Its my secret weapon!
6. …and now for some rapid-fire questions!
Beautiful Beach House or Swanky City Apartment? Well, I’m really a mermaid, so, beautiful beach house
Smokey Eye or Bold Lip? Sexy, smokey eye
Investment Shoe or Investment Handbag? Love a fabulous handbag!
Gosling or Reynolds? Gosling all day! Can I get a “Noteboooook”??
Thanks so much for chatting with us, Sarah! Can’t WAIT to watch the show (and you are so fab, my friend! xxx)
