Womanista Beauty: Meet your new favorite Nail Polish

I absolutely love getting a manicure and I absolutely hate getting shellac polish. This happens to be a #firstworldproblems issue for me because I am really rough on my nails (I don’t really know why, but I just am and they end up chipped like 5 mins post-manicure). So anyway, I have long lived with the not-cute look of a chipped mani because I can’t deal with the shellac/gel polish. Until NOWWWWW!

I was getting a mani with my friends Ali and Ashley the other day when Ash whipped out a bag of the good stuff and said “want to try my CND Vinylux polish?” She explained that it was just like gel polish without the base coat or the UV light, and it lasts for a FULL seven days without chipping. One week. For real. Mind = blown. It’s really simple…you paint your nails with 2 coats of polish (sometimes the lighter colors need 3 coats) and then paint them with the special CND top coat. Your nails then dry in minutes and don’t even think about chipping for a week. The end. SERIOUSLY!! (I am officially on day 7 and not a single chip…)

And here’s sort of the kicker…nail salons don’t usually have them because they are committed to the shellac/gel technology  (it’s more lucrative for them & more widely known…) but you can buy your own colors and do it yourself or bring them in to your favorite salon. The polishes come in 71 colors and here are a few of my faves! You’re welcome.

We shall see if they pass the ‘dog, pony and baby’ test. If so… I’m buying stock. Thanks!!

I just figured out that you can order some colors from Walmart and get free shipping! Yay! I’m so excited to try this nail polish!

I also have a love/hate relationship with polish and chipping. My issue, though is impatience and never waiting long enough for the polish to dry. I did find an amazing topcoat from Julip recently called Freedom Polymer Top Coat – it dries in 5 mins! And it comes off with any kind of remover – yay!

Yay, Stacey! I’ll have to try that too. This polish comes off with regular remover too (woohoo!) no soaking. it’s seriously a game changer!

Ahh thanks for the tips. I’m not a fan of shellac either after I saw what it did to my mum’s nails. I’m in love til O.P.I and Essie though, but maybe I should try this one out;)

Thanks for the tip! I like the gel nails, but I don’t like the time it takes to soak off and reapply. And my nails underneath didn’t do so well, so I am back to the chipped polish shabby nails! I just ordered a couple colors of the CND and can’t to try it.

You will seriously love it! I just got my FIRST chip this afternoon (the end of day 7, and you really can’t even tell…) It has changed my manicure life, ha. And no soaking to take it off – just regular ol’ polish remover!

Cassie, I wish I could hug you right now. This sounds amazing and I must try asap. I have seen pics of this stuff bought I assumed it was a UV light polish. I will be trying this, I always want my nails painted but get so annoyed at the chipping! Do you have to soak your nails to get it off?

    • Woman June 16, 2014 at 10:54 pm #

You seriously MUST TRY! And you don’t have to soak to take it off…just use regular polish remover! It’s fab. Please let me know what you think once you try it!

This is awesome!! I don’t usually paint my nails, because I chip them so easily. But, I think I will give this a try!! Do you have recommendation for a fun “summer” color? Thanks!!
