Oxblood (or burgundy, wine, maroon…whatever you want to call it!) is THE hottest color for Fall 2012. I personally, am in love with it! It’s a great, rich shade that works with everything from jewel tones to metallics to prints. My latest inspiration for the love of oxblood? Adding just a hint of it. Lips, a bold cocktail ring, nails.
Prabal Gurung recently upped the ante with oxblood nails at his Spring 2013 presentation (which was fabulous, but you may want to reserve that look for Dracula or Halloween…)
For those of us womanistas who want to rock the oxblood mani without the grotesque expression, here are a few gorge colors!
“Lacy Not Racy” by Essie is a gorgeous, quintessential oxblood. It’s sexy, yet also work-appropriate. Amp up your nails with this one for a hot date or a big meeting!
Over at Polish Wasteland, they featured the most gorgeous oxblood accented mani for Fall. How fabulous are the gold flecks to add a glitzy element to the polish? My favorite color is sparkle, so I die over this one.
To create this custom look, polish your nails with Avon’s “Night Violet” and when it dries, paint over it with “It’s Real 18K Gold” top coat by Sephora for OPI. Fab!
…and lasty, if you are uber fabulous and want to try the “blood drip” nails inspired by the Prabal Gurung Spring 2013 show, then BeautyHigh.com has the goods to hook a sista up. They have an awesome “how-to” video featuring manicurist Traceylee, style ambassador for Sally Hansen Nails.
How about you, womanistas? Are you loving oxblood for Fall as much as I am? Are you going to try these nail trends?
