Last night I had the pleasure of attending the CMT Awards with my handsome husband and his band, Lady Antebellum. The CMT Awards are one of my fave award shows to go to because there is a relaxed vibe, the fans are front and center so the energy is rockin’, you can have fun with fashion, and there is awesome catering and a full bar backstage (I mean really. I had a delish, handcrafted Crown Royal cocktail last night called a “Maple Iced Tea” that included cinnamon and lemon. DE-LISH.)
I was super excited to rock this neon Antonio Berardi dress (and it is on sale at Net-A-Porter right now!) The fit was structured and modern, and the COLOR. Y’all, the color. I love me some neon.
I paired the dress with a turquoise “lips” clutch from Diane von Furstenberg (also on sale!) I added two crystal Erickson Beamon cuffs for a little bling (I’ve had them for a few years and wear them ALL the time, obsessed.) They are from Haven in Franklin, TN.
I finished the look with some seafoam Alexandra Tukelturk drop earrings (from Trumps Salon in Nashville), and some silver metallic Giuseppe Zanotti peep toe pumps (mine are old, but a similar pair is on sale!)
For my hair, I wanted to go with something summery and fun, not to mention a look that would hold up for a long time and still look good while exposed to the Nashville humidity (If I had opted for a stick straight, sleek look, I would have been rocking an afro by the end of the night. My hair gets FRIZZY!)
The fabulous Earl Cox & Katie Bender (she’s a braid wiz!) of Trumps Salon created a GORGE messy side braid, with lots of texture & sass. My hair inspiration was this look from Miley Cyrus, but I wanted my hair be a little softer. I absolutely LOVED my hair. Loved. And it still looked great when I finally got in my PJs at 12:30AM.
For my makeup, I wanted to look fresh, youthful, and fun. The perfect palette to create that is Aqualillies for Tarte. Y’all, I have been rocking every.single.lipstick in this collection. I can’t say enough how obsessed I am. They are luxurious & rich in color, plus they last FOREVER. Fab makeup artist Mary Beth Felts worked her magic to create a soft, pretty look with a bold lip. I didn’t reapply my Tarte glamazon 12-hour lipstick in “Foxy” at all last night, and even went to dinner after the show and it was STILL on after eating and drinking. For real. I also used Tarte 12-hour amazonian clay foundation for glowing skin – and it also lasts ALL.NIGHT. They aren’t kidding with the “12-hour” in the name!
Mary Beth added to my look with rosy cheeks, cat-eye liner, and mega-watt “Atlanta” lashes from Smoke & Mirrors Beauty. I finished the look with “watts up” highlighter from Benefit Cosmetics on my cheek bones for a hint of shimmer.
Here are a few more fun pics from the show. And YAY for Lady Antebellum’s win for “Group Video of the Year” with “Downtown”!
Hope you enjoyed the show, womanistas!
