I, for one, am never without a sparkle on New Year’s Eve! Last year I wore an orange Diane Von Furstenberg frock with sparkly metallic gold wedges. This year I’m attending a “white party” (how P. Diddy of me!) and I’m wearing a white dress adorned with silver sequins on the shoulders. And let’s be honest, next year, and the year after that I’m going to wear something sparkly too (because if you can’t be glitzy on New Year’s Eve, when can you??) If you are still looking for the perfect dress to rock at your New Year’s Eve celebration, here are a few of my favorite sparkly picks!
TopShop Silver Sequin and Chiffon Dress: There is nothing that isn’t fabulous and flattering about this dress. The bustier-cut top is gorgeous for your bustline, the fit and flare shape is feminine and flattering for all sizes, and the hint of sparkle draws the eye up to the neckline of the dress.
Plus, the chiffon adds airiness and texture to entire ensemble. This dress is party-perfect, AND it’s on sale for $70! Yes and yes. You can rock this one to a party, or simply to dinner on New Year’s Eve. Pair it with black stilettos and a textured clutch. You could also wear red or aubergine peep-toes if you want to add a pop of color!
Mark + James By Badgley Mischka Red Sequin Dress: This one is a showstopper. The fiery sequins are red hot and attention-grabbing, and the fit is super flattering.
The sweetheart neckline and the bow design at the midsection of the dress add a feminine silhouette (and the ruching around the bow also camouflages any rogue tummy bulge that you may have accumulated over the holidays!)
Keep your accessories minimal and let this dress do all the shining when you wear it. You can pair it with simple gold drop earrings and nude pumps. I love these nude platforms from ALDO. They are chic and modern, but still understated.
IRO “Del” Dress: If you happen to be going to a “white party” like I am, this sexy, modern dress mixes relaxed fabric with cool structure. This dress is equally at home at a beach party destination, or at a cocktail party in a downtown Manhattan loft. It’s chic and fabulous.
To add some glitz (it is New Year’s Eve, hello!) rock some super sparkly heels. I am in LOVE with these crystal-embellished, sky-high platforms from Giuseppe Zanotti. Since they aren’t in everyone’s price range (but we can all still oogle them!), I also love these strappy stilettos from Windsor (and they are $29!! That’s pretty awesome because it will leave money in your budget to add statement earrings and a fab clutch!)
Speaking of clutches, pair this dress with something metallic or whimsical. This silver crystal minaudiere is glam and fun. If you want to add some color to your ensemble, this edgy, structured, mirrored acrylic envelope clutch from Jimmy Choo is super fab. The floral design makes it interesting and glam, too!
Michayla Gold Sequin Peplum Top: I am in love with this bustier top because it’s so versatile!
You can pair it with dark skinnies, turqouise stilettos, and a patterned clutch for a fun, youthful look (add a bright fuschia lip to really rock a statement look!) or with a leather mini skirt and textured booties.
These pointy-toe turquoise heels from Sergio Rossi are AMAZE, and I’m obsessed with this zig zag leather clutch from Christopher Kon!
You also can’t go wrong with pairing the bustier with this faux leather mini from MANGO (it’s $45!) and these SUPER cute black “Jessica” booties from BooHoo.com (they are very similar to these FAB Christian Louboutin “Daf” booties…)
And lastly, if braving the New Year’s Eve crowds in s glittery cocktail dress isn’t exactly your thing, you can certainly still sparkle while you sip champagne at home in front of the fireplace! These “Dreamer” flannel pajamas from Victoria’s Secret have glittery stars all over them and are SUPER cozy (I recently spent the entirety of Christmas day lounging in them!)
Whatever it is you decide to do for NYE this year, I hope you have so much fun with people you love! Please be safe and drink responsibly, too
Happy New Year, womanistas! I hope 2013 is your best year YET!!!
