Womanista Gift Guide: Foodie Gifts

Y’all, can you BELIEVE it’s just a month before Christmas?! A MONTH! And the even crazier part is, it’s not even Thanksgiving yet!  I typically don’t like to start celebrating the Christmas season until I’ve come out of the tryptophan-induced coma of Thanksgiving day, but this year due to the weird-ish calendar, I’m starting my holiday shopping early. And y’all – I have SCOURED the country/city streets/internet for some of the very best gifts for everyone on your list this holiday season! And since this is the week of thanksgiving, I’m kicking off this year’s womanista gift guide with delish treats & sweets for all of the foodies in your life!

I love giving edible gifts for a few reasons – For one, people entertain a lot during the holidays and it’s nice to have a good stock of quick, serve-able bites for a cocktail party, or when unexpected guests drop by. Plus, let’s be honest, who doesn’t like a Christmas cookie?? Also, foodie gifts aren’t super personal – they are perfect for your boss, distant cousin, or anyone you want to acknowledge during the holidays but don’t know that well (but obvi are also good for your nearest & dearest!). So let’s get on with the gifts!!

‘Lette Macarons: These gorgeous french pastries are a chic (& delish!) gift. They come in a variety of flavors (salted caramel or Sicilian pistachio, anyone??) and are completely customizable – pick the flavors that you want in each gorgeously packaged box! Each box comes with 24 macarons & ships overnight, so if you decide to wait until the last minute (or accidentally forgot someone on your list!) – these are a great option.

Wine Awesomeness: This is the anti-wine club, wine club. There is no monthly commitment (you can stop shipments whenever!) and each wine package also comes with cool extras – like recipes to pair with the month’s selection, or a cool winter playlist to add vibe while you are sipping a glass of artisan bordeaux. It’s the wine club for cool kids who aren’t wine snobs – and the best part is that it’s COMPLETELY affordable. You can get 3 bottles a month for $40, or 6 bottles a month for $75. And lastly, wine awesomeness gives back. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of sparkling wines goes to charitable causes like Malaria no More, GirlUp, & My new Red Shoes. So really, what’s better than the gift of carefully curated, affordable wine each month that also does good??

Blackberry Farm handcrafted food: If I had to name my culinary dream destination, it wouldn’t be tuscany, or provence, or New York City – it would be Blackberry Farm, right in the heart of the great smokey mountains of Tennessee (and a trip there is still on my bucket list!) But the good news for us is, you can purchase some of their incredible handmade delights without leaving town! Some of my FAVORITE products are their jams – THEIR JAMS! They are luscious, rich, & delicious. Pair them with homemade biscuits & that’s pretty much southern breakfast nirvana.

You can also treat that special someone on your Christmas list to a Blackberry Farms Southern Food gift basket that features creamy pimento cheese, buttermilk & sage fried chicken mix, tangy BBQ sauce, skillet cornbread mix, southern chow chow, & bread & butter pickles…the perfect starter-kit for a southern lunch.

50th Anniversary Rolling Stones Crystal Head Vodka gift set: This is the perfect gift for your booze & rock n’ roll-loving friend (of which I have many!) Crystal Head is an ultra-premium, pure & clean tasting vodka that happens to look as cool as it tastes! The skull bottle looks awesome displayed on a bar cart (or even styled on a bookcase!)

This limited-edition gift set comes with a 750-ml bottle of Crystal Head Vodka, a crystal bottle decanter top engraved with the Rolling Stones’ iconic logo, and an exclusive 2-disc compilation of live tracks of some of the Rolling Stones’ greatest hits (that is literally not available anywhere else!) Plus, it’s all packaged with a zipped-up case (an homage to the “Sticky Fingers” album!) This is such a fun, unique gift for a music-lover.

Christie Cookies: These cookies are simply put, the best. They are rich & velvety (and made with REAL butter!) The chocolate chip & oatmeal raisin flavors are like crack (they seriously might be as addictive!) Plus, they are baked right here in my hometown of Nashville, TN. I like to send them to all of my relatives during the holidays, and you can also select a custom tin for your order – my pick? This “Nashville” tin to remind my loved ones that someone in Nashville is thinking about them!

Hudson Henry Baking Co. “Good News Granola”: Y’all. This. Granola. It says on the packaging “best granola ever” and they are NOT KIDDING! It is so delish. I am gifting all of my friends & family with a bag of the Maple & Walnuts flavor this year. It’s an easy, healthy breakfast option – or great for an on-the-go snack. It’s low in fat (not all granolas are healthy – This one is!) and just sweet enough.

Each bag is handmade in small batches by Hope Lawrence from her home outside of Charlottesville, VA – so you know lots of love goes into each batch! Plus, at $7.99 a bag, it’s a delish gift that won’t break the bank & an awesome stocking stuffer. Seriously, womanistas…it’s SO GOOD!

Polkadot Cupcake Shop “Cupcake of the Month” Club: Another great gift that keeps on giving – who doesn’t want cupcakes every month!? I first discovered the Polkadot Cupcake Shop when I was visiting my friend in Hoboken, NJ.  Their cupcakes feature delicious, customized flavors that look amazing! They also have gluten-free options. It’s a little sweet slice of heaven that is a perfect gift for the cupcake-lover in your life (which is probably everyone, let’s be honest).

Mamie’s Cheese Wafers: No cocktail party is complete without a cheese wafer, in my book! These are the perfect savory snack to accompany your holiday cheer during a party. They are crunchy with a kick (that cayenne pepper is fab!) and the slice & bake dough is worry-free & easy.

These have your “hostess with the mostest” friend written all over them. Pair with a great bottle of crisp chardonnay (like this one from Jessup Cellars), wrap in a red bow & voila – a hostess gift that is full of “merry”! They are available at Williams-Sonoma for $35

Happy Holiday shopping, womanistas! I have a lot more gifts in store to share with you (next up, the best gifts for the home!) so make sure to check back regularly – and here’s to wishing each & every one of you a great holiday season!

xo, the Womanista

These all sound delicious! I also recommend the babka from Dean & Deluca and for a small, family owned, operated, my cousin’s business in Louisiana, Plantationpecan.com . He offers smoked meats, fresh pecans and fabulous pies! They ship! Shop Small!
