I am a very lucky gal. I have a husband who I adore (who is smokin’ hot, wonderfully kind, generous, funny, & an all around fabulous guy!) So for me, Valentine’s day is an opportunity to celebrate our relationship. But on the flip side, it’s fairly unusual that we actually get to BE TOGETHER on the hallmark holiday, because he is usually working. So I get the best of both worlds and get to spread the Valentine’s day love with my single friends as well! And let’s be honest, guys don’t like this holiday that much anyway…so spending it with your friends can definitely be the most fun!
The fabulous & talented Marisa of “So Eventful” Events shared her ideas with us for celebrating a fun & festive Valentine’s Day with your girls! Read on for her tips…
Valentine’s Day is right around the corner. For some, it’s a day of joy and roses. For others…well, not so much. Let me put a little pep-in-your-step by exploring these ways to have you enjoy this Valentine’s Day.
Let’s be honest, you don’t need to be in a relationship to feel warm & cuddly on this day…Take it upon yourself to round up your group of swingin’ singles into a frenzy of fun. Here are some awesome ideas to make this Valentine’s Day fun and enjoyable…with or without a true love.
Red Hot Party
Any excuse to throw a party…you know I’m all for it, so why not have a “Red Hot Party”…
I firmly believe: it’s all about the details! Think Red…red wine, red cocktails, red décor, red velvet cake, red boas, and red balloons – are you picking up what I’m putting down here? The more detailed you get, the more fun it will be!
Paint the Town Red
Just because you are not celebrating with a nice bottle of wine and a romantic dinner does not mean that you have to avoid Valentine’s Day nor the sexy, fun, signature color, RED!
Honestly, what is more fun than a hot red dress, heels and a fierce lipstick? Talk about painting the town red, right??? Have your single girlfriends wear the signature color red too! Valentine’s Day will not know how to handle all you beautiful ladies on the town.
Channel Taylor Swift’s red-loving ensembles (and maybe even listen to a few of the fun, danceable songs on her album, Red, before you hit the town to get the party started!) I love this gorge red dress from ASOS with the scalloping and lace! It’s pretty without being too sweet, and you will look feminine and flawless.
For a timelessly-chic look, that’s also a little sexy, I LOVE this siren-red number from PREEN (available at Net-a-Porter).
And if you want to go REALLY sexy, this curve-hugging dress with a plunging neckline from American Apparel in fiery red screams sex-appeal. It will definitely turn some heads on Valentine’s Day (or any day for that matter!)
Plus, no one EVER looks bad in red lipstick! And if you don’t have to worry about smooching someone at the end of the evening, you can really rock a hot red lip. My favorite red lipsticks are “Ruby Woo” from MAC, and the classic Revlon SuperLustrous Lipstick in “Love That Red”.
Popcorn & Bevy’s “Movie Night”
Not quite ready for that cherry bomb soiree?
Let your girlfriends be your Valentine & have a movie night at your place. Heck…make it a slumber party! Tell your girlfriends to come over for a low-key night watching movies and hanging with the girls (you can even ask them to wear some pajamas!)
Make some fabulous cocktails, pop some popcorn, set up a “candy station”, bake some brownies and put on the movies! Have an 80′s themed movie night in with the single ladies (hello! who doesn’t love Sixteen Candles??). Let those awesome movies from the 80′s serve as a nostalgic backdrop to all of your juicy gossip. Remind yourself of how much fun it was before boys even entered the picture. Ah, those were the days!
Happy Valentine’s Day planning, womanistas!
