As we cruise into the warmer months, I wanted to share a few of my “favorite things” for the summer season with all of you lovely womanistas! Whether you are traveling to an exotic locale with your supermodel French boyfriend (if this is you, please stand up and let yourself be known! I applaud you!), or to what I lovingly call “The Redneck Riviera” – the Florida Panhandle! – with some girlfriends (which is what I will be doing!), here are a few not-to-miss items to add to your packing list:
Giuseppe Zanotti Heels: These blue heels by Giuseppe Zanotti are my summer style-crush. They are fun, flirty, and sky-high…perfect for when you want to thrown on an easy ensemble, but create a statement look.
The Rosewood Mayakoba: Ok, this isn’t really something you can pack for a trip – but it is a fabulous destination that you might want to travel to! I recently visited this paradise and loved every minute of our vacation. Between sipping the complimentary tequila, munching on the best guacamole I’ve ever eaten, lounging beside our private, beachside plunge pool, and the dozing off on the personalized, monogrammed pillow cases placed on our bed each evening at turndown service, I can honestly say it is the best vacation I’ve had in a LONG time (if not the best ever!) This is by no means a “budget” resort…but if you have a special occasion coming up and want to splurge, you will not be disappointed.
Smooth Operator Amazonian Clay Illuminating Serum by Tarte: This gorgeous skin-brightening serum is the perfect makeup multi-tasker. It is packed with vitamins and minerals that moisturize and reduce the look of pores, all while giving your skin a healthy glow. The last thing I want in the summer is for my makeup to feel heavy and thick – so I usually wear this with just a bit of concealer, blush, and mascara and voila! Complexion perfection.
Essie Nail Polish in “Turquoise & Caicos”: This is my go-to summer nail color! It is a bright, flirty color, that is surprisingly neutral no matter what you wear. It is so fun and vibrant (plus, it has such a “vacationy” name!)
Theodora & Callum Scarf: This scarf is the perfect way to tie together a chic travel outfit, or you can accessorize a maxi dress and gladiator sandals with it and explore a foreign city in style. I am such a sucker for anything “blush” these days, so this scarf is in heavy rotation in my wardrobe currently.
Terri Apanasewicz for Liptini Lipstick in “Flirtini”: Fabulous and uber-talented makeup artist Terri Apanasewicz lent her talents to Liptini and created this amazing line of lipsticks! Flirtini is my favorite shade, because it looks gorgeous on everyone, no matter what your coloring! It stays on forever and is also rich and moisturizing (which is perfect for a beach day that turns into a night out on the town!)
2010 Domaine de Terrebrune Bandol Rose: A delicious rose wine is a must during the hot summer months. This bottle is crisp and refreshing with notes of peach, grapefruit, and herbs. To put it in less wine-snobby words…it’s DELISH! Chill a bottle and sip poolside. You’re welcome.
The “Gretchen” Dress from Rag & Bone: I absolutely adore pretty much every piece of clothing Rag & Bone has ever made. I really can’t get enough of their jeans and pants, but this dress knocked me out when I saw it recently at Haven in Franklin, TN. It is the perfect, figure-flattering sundress for summer. The color is great on all skin tones, and the grosgrain waistband gives it a chic touch. Pair it with flats and a woven hat while discovering a beachside town during the day, and throw on some stilettos and add a metallic clutch for an evening date! Simply gorgeous.
Christian Louboutin Lady Peep Spikes: These ultra-glam heels speak for themselves. They are the ultimate footwear splurge (and I’m totally drooling over them!) They are the perfect mix of feminine, edgy, and glam – plus they are neutral so they will go with everything in your closet (and you may want to wear them with everything in your closet, anyway!!)
Happy packing and happy vacationing, womanistas! Enjoy your summer!
