Womanista Wish List: Thanksgiving Edition

It’s almost Thanksgiving and I’m gearing up to host a big family dinner this year! I don’t know about you, womanistas, but I enjoy the decor, planning, and “party” aspect of Thanksgiving day almost as much as the meal itself! Here are a few things I’m loving to help set the “glam” tone for a day of Thanks.

Minted.com: I love this site for its easy, pretty, and inexpensive party invitations & decor! I created beautiful menu cards and name cards to set at each place setting on my table for Thanksgiving. It’s a personalized detail that adds a touch of glam, and minted makes it so easy!

Mauviel Hammered Copper Champagne Bucket from Williams-Sonoma: This gorgeous champagne bucket  is a show-stopper and the copper is a perfect accent to a fall day.

I love starting thanksgiving with a glass of bubbly, or a mimosa, so having chilled champagne accessible is a must! Plus, what’s better than toasting with your family and celebrating being together. This bucket is a little pricey, but the copper is a chic departure from a typical silver champagne bucket.

Martha Stewart’s Deviled Egg Recipe: My mother-in-law recently gave me her mother’s beautiful deviled egg plate and told me that “every southern woman needs an egg plate” – I absolutely agree! Who doesn’t love deviled eggs? I’ll be making them as an appetizer on thanksgiving day (and this recipe from Martha Stewart looks delish!) and serving them on my husband’s grandmother’s plate.

Fun Cocktail Napkins: I love a cute cocktail napkin! My mom recently gave me these that say “As long as we have wine, Thanksgiving will be fine” (she knows me and my love of wine well!)

But seriously, this will be my mantra on Thanksgiving (who cares about anything else if you have wine and family??) A fun cocktail napkin will add some spunk and pizzazz to your bar. So fab.

Apples to Apples Game: I’ve never played this game and not had an absolutely hilarious and awesome time. It’s super easy and fun for a group to play, and can also be especially fun after a glass of champagne or two! Once the meal is over, kick back and laugh with your family with this game. It’s a fun alternative to watching football and taking a nap (though I also love both of those things!)

Happy Thanksgiving, womanistas! I’m thankful for each of you, and how fabulous you all are!

xo, the Womanista

I love these ideas! It IS a necessity to have Champagne, Wine, and Mimosas during the holidays! Ha! Every year during the holidays we have a drink “DuJour” last year was a Honeycrisp Apple Sangria. Cassie, it is delish! It was such a big hit we make it for happy hour when my sisters and brother come visit us from NJ. The glasses are rimmed with a yummy sugary concoction, and there is plenty of fruit and other goodies in this cocktail. The recipe can be found on http://www.NutmegNanny.com. Oh yeah, my family ARE obsessed with deviled eggs! I think my Dad could eat the whole platter!! Lol. Do you have your deviled egg recipe? Would you share it? (I know its a family recipe;)) Have a Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!! :)

Love the idea of doing name cards. I’ve never tried that before. Great idea. Also, I will definately be trying those deviled eggs. They sound fabulous. We play Apples to Apples all the time with friends and family and like you said, it’s always an awesome time. Great recommendations.
