Womanista Wish List: This Week I’m Loving (Aussie Edition!)

I cannot wait to spend some time in Australia. The easy, relaxed beach atmosphere of Sydney, the cosmopolitan shopping & dining in Melbourne, and the gorgeous coastline of Brisbane are calling my name!

Here are a few of my favorite Aussie originals that I’m excited to check out:

Dion Lee: 26-year-old Australian designer Dion Lee first hit my radar during my inaugural trip to Australia last year. His collection embodies floaty fabrics with an effortless fit, accented by some abstract prints. I fell in love with (and purchased!) a gorgeous poppy-colored silk top with a body-skimming fit, and a mesh back. Wearable & unexpected & awesome.

Gary Pepper Vintage: Australian style blogger & vintage shopkeeper Nicole Warne is the brains (& beauty!) behind GaryPepperVintage.com.  She curates some of the most gorgeous & whimsical pieces. I had the pleasure of hearing her speak at IFB Conference a few weeks ago and have followed her blog ever since. It’s fabulous.

2008 Balnaves “The Tally” Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon: This rich, velvety cab is smooth as silk with some mocha flavors and is indulgent to the max. It’s tough to compete with the bold cabernets of California, but this one is gunning for the top. It’s so delish.

Napoleon Perdis Cosmetics: Aussie beauty powerhouse Napoleon Perdis is currently building his brand in the US, but he’s pretty much the best in the business down under.  He has more than 73 concept salons in Australia & New Zealand, and two in the United States. His makeup is gorgeous, and his color palate is rich & inspiring.

Tell me, womanistas…What do you love about Australia?

For the most amazing views in Sydney with quality food would have to recommend either Icebergs dining room and bar at Bondi or Doyles at Watsons Bay. Both incredible, you won’t be disappointed!
